Today I will be reviewing one of the programs that I used back in 2014 which actually changed my life. Its called the Adonis Golden Ratio and it has played a huge part in setting me in the right direction in terms of exercise, nutrition. Lets face it most of us fail at reaching our fitness goals so we really should be asking ourselves why that is. Now don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean that AGR is a scam, it is anything but that. The creators make certain claims basically because it is what their audience want to hear and no product is complete without the marketing mambo jambo. I guess sometimes you do need to hear certain inspirational things to get you excited about starting a new program and the creators use this to their advantage.

I have to say though that given my overall rating and based on the results I achieved after following this programs for 12 weeks, the AGR system does deliver on its price tag and definitely offers value for money. I would recommend it to people who are looking to improve the way their body looks, improve overall strength and build a healthy sustainable eating habit. If you are looking to improve other athletic aspects like speed and agility then this program will not really help you improve too much in those areas.

In this section I will give you a detailed account of what to expect from this program and hopefully this will help you decide if this program is for you.

Who is the program for

AGR is being marketed to everyone at every level; however, the workout plans may be intense for the complete newbie especially if you have never been in the gym before. Although you can build up momentum as you go I would recommend doing some basic exercises like push ups and sit ups for a few days just to loosen up your body before you begin the program.

How does it work

The program uses two online calculators where you will need to enter your information such as height, weight, shoulder circumference, waist and activity level. The first calculator will use your measurements to determine the most suitable workout program for your body type. The second calculator will determine the best nutritional targets based on your body type.  You will need to use both to determine your primary goal of either fat loss, muscle gain, or fat loss with simultaneous muscle gain. Each of these three categories has a slightly different workout and nutrition plan. So if you are overweight, then you would probably have to work through the fat loss system for at least 12 weeks.

Theory of Ideal Proportions

This is an eBook written by the creator of AGR John Barban. In this eBook Barban talks about the prevalence of steroids in theAGR fitness industry and how magazines are selling you on a physique that is unattainable without them. Some of his claims are exaggerated like any other product out there that utilize marketing tricks to get your attention, but basically he explains how he shifted his focus from gaining size to developing the perfect body proportions.

He goes on to explain that humans have been hardwired to look for particular physical traits in potential mates and that his program is developed to get you the body that females find most attractive. He also talks about the ancient Greek sculptors and how they depict the perfect male physique and that all of this was not an accident. He then goes on to explain how this knowledge which uses break through mathematical calculations to design the work out program has been integrated into his program.

Basically the target is to get you the ideal shoulder circumference to waist ratio.

If you skim through the eBook you will be able to see how he has arrived at the mathematical formula using something called the Fibonacci sequence. Each chapter is then followed by a success story complete with an interview.


Nutrition Software

As explained briefly earlier you will start the program by entering your body dimensions into the nutrition software which will then give you a list of daily and weekly targets. I found the software to be very useful because it also takes into account your shoulder measurement as opposed to the traditional BMI calculator.

In the beginning, I followed the calculator to the bone and even started counting calories using my fitness pal in addition to other apps. After using the system for a while I no longer needed the calorie counter as I had gained a lot of experience in terms of food portions and daily caloric requirements. If you decide to use this program then I would recommend doing the same at least in the beginning.

Once you move through the system you will gain a good understanding of how your body responds and you should be able to tweak it according to your specific body type and metabolism rate. Training program

In this section of the online program you will use your current measurements to determine the most suitable workout program for your body type. Basically the results of the calculation will place you in one of three various categories with the primary goal being

  • Muscle gain
  • Fat loss
  • Combined muscle gain and fat loss

Within each plan you will get a workout, nutrition, and supplementation guide. The main purpose of the nutrition program is to educate you on what healthy eating is all about. The specifics of what you will need to eat is in the meal plans.

Since I have been working out for sometime I found the software to be quite general, but it still can set you off in the right direction especially if you are a complete newbie.

One of the best things I found with the workout programs is that it was very easy to follow and the exercises are laid out for you on a day to day basis. They are definitely not easy to do especially for a newbie but the good thing is there are videos for all the exercises so you can refer back to them if you are unsure how to do them properly.

The workouts include various exercises laid out in pyramid sets, super sets, and circuit training and wont be easy especially in the beginning.


Meal Plans

In addition to the workout program thiagr-meal-plans-groups is one of the things that I found to be very useful with the AGR system. The meal plans are a life saver as they provide you with the exact meals you will be eating for the length of the program. In total there are 9 different meal plans. Each meal plan is divided into 6 meals; Breakfast, Lunch and dinner along with 3 snacks between the meals and covers the duration of the whole program. That gives you 504 meal ideas for each plan which I found to be pretty awesome.

The meals are also quite easy to prepare complete with meal proportions and nutritional information. After using this for sometime you will get the hang of it and should be able to come up with your own meal ideas without needing to go back to the meal guide.

  1. I have been fat for many years. In fact, it’s always been difficult to shed it off. For me it’s mostly because of laziness because I am unwilling to invest myself with lots of patience and learning in order to achieve the ideal body shape and weight that I want. I use to think that getting slimmer is better without thinking too much about any golden ratio. This product might really help me considering the fact that females are attracted to men with a certain shape rather than what we imagine in. I will give it a try. Thank you.

      I know what you mean about finding the motivation to invest the time to follow the program. Truth is we are all wired to indulge in things that provide immediate satisfaction and anything that we have to wait to see the benefits of isn’t really that appealing to us.     I’ve found the older I get the harder it is to keep the weight off. Its great that there’s an active community for support. 12 weeks is a struggle though as commitment isn’t really my strongest point, I’m really looking for something i can easily stick to or just fits easily into my day to day routine.

      One of the things that puts people off from working out and getting fit is the guess work involved. With this program there is no guess work and you just need to follow the workouts and the meal plan for 12 weeks. If you are consistent you will get amazing results.

And you are saying that this product changed your life. Did you lose weight or you got into the best shape of your life?

      I not only lost weight but I also got much stronger and fitter. When I started the program my weight was at 109 KG. (about 240 pounds) with about 35% body fat. After finishing the 12 week program my weight was at 90 Kg. (198 pounds). After that I went into the advanced program called the final phase which was another 12 weeks. Today my weight is about 80 Kg. (176 pounds) with less than 12% body fat.

      The programs does have lower body work outs like lunges, squats, deal lifts etc. but just not enough of it. I felt like it could use more especially the dead lifts.

      I really do think this program is worth it, but only if you follow it and are consistent.

  5. where is this meal plan thing? I searched the entire site and can’t find it anywhere. No 504 meal ideas, just the calculator.
